Water is an important element of the environment. People and animals cannot live without water. Pure water is very essential for health. But this water is polluted in many ways. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the fields. Through rain and floods, these chemicals mix with river-ditch and pond water. In addition, mill wastes are dumped in rivers and canals which pollute the water. Boats, steamers, launch pads throw oil, food and human excrement into rivers and canals. Oil tankers often clean their tanks at sea and discharge hot water into powerhouse rivers, Which is fish. He became the cause of death of the tree. Plenty of toilets are placed on the banks of rivers and canals. Rivers and canals are connected by many raw drains. These drains carry human waste and garbage and throw it in the river water. Winter season begins after autumn and before spring in each year. It begins from the middle of November and lasts and lingers till middle of February in Bangladesh. It covers the two months named Pausha and Magha as per the Bengali Calendar. In this season days gradually become shorter and nights become longer. Dew drops fall on leaves and blades of grass at night. They look like glittering pearls when the rays of the morning sun fall on it. Cold wind blows continuously from the north. There is dense fog everywhere in the morning. Everything looks hazy. Things at a little distance can hardly be seen. Bird's chirping is not heard. Village children and people have hardly warm cloths. They gather straw and dry leaves to make fire to warm themselves. Even the old and the poor bask in the sun. People in general and children get up late. The sun rises late through the fog. Nature looks dead and gloomy. The sky often remains cloudless and the rays of the sun become very mild. During winter season, the leaves from the trees shed. Many kinds of vegetable are available. Fruits are also available in abundance. It is also a season of date-juice. Delicious foods are prepared with date-juice. Social festivals are held in this season. It is also the time for school and college sports. We also go to different tourist spots to have vacations and picnics. In this season, the village roads remain dry. People go to visit their relatives in winter. An air of festivity prevails during the whole season. So, we welcome the season and feel sad when it leaves us.

Water, an important element of the human environment, is essential for human and plant life. It is next to air. Water can be polluted in many ways. First of all farmers 'use chemical fertilizers and insecticide in their fields to grow more food. The rain and floods wash away some of the chemicals. They get mixed with river water, canal-water and pond water. Secondly mills and factories pollute water by throwing the waste materials and unsold products into the rivers and canals. Thirdly steamers, motor launches and even sail boats can pollute water by throwing oil, food waste and human waste into the rivers and canals. Moreover, unsanitary latrines in the countryside standing on the banks of the rivers and canals also pollute water. Besides the kutcha drains running into the rivers and canals cause water pollution. Clean water is safe for use and polluted water is harmful for man. Water pollution can be prevented in many ways. First of all we should make the people aware of the fact that water is next to air. It is called life. So fertilizer, chemicals and pesticide should not be allowed to mix with river water, canal water and pond water. Mills and factories should not throw the waste materials and unsold products into rivers and canals. Steamers, motor launches and even sail boats should not throw oil, food waste and human waste into the rivers and canals. Unsanitary latrines in the countryside should not be built on the banks of the rivers and canals. In fine awareness should be created in the public.
