The major types of environmental pollution are air pollution, water pollution, sound pollution and odor pollution. Environment is polluted in many ways. Air is polluted by smoke and fumes of vehicles and industries. Water is polluted by waste and filth of mills and factories. Vehicle horns and indiscriminate use of loud speakers cause sound pollution. Dumping of rubbish and untreated human waste cause serious odor pollution. In this way human beings are causing environmental pollution. So, proper steps should be taken to prevent environment pollution. We should plant more trees and work for forestation. Actions must be taken against indiscriminate use of chemicals. Awareness must be raised among the common people about the destructive effects of environment pollution Cutting down trees should be restricted. To prevent pollution, government as well as all the conscious people should come forward to reduce all kinds of pollution. Air pollution can be prevented by taking proper steps and necessary measures and creating public awareness.

পরিবেশ দূষণের প্রধান প্রকারগুলি হল বায়ু দূষণ, জল দূষণ, শব্দ দূষণ এবং গন্ধ দূষণ। পরিবেশ নানাভাবে দূষিত হচ্ছে। যানবাহন ও শিল্প-কারখানার ধোঁয়া ও ধোঁয়ায় বায়ু দূষিত হয়। কল-কারখানার বর্জ্য ও নোংরা পানিতে দূষিত হচ্ছে পানি। গাড়ির হর্ন এবং নির্বিচারে লাউড স্পিকারের ব্যবহার শব্দ দূষণ ঘটায়। আবর্জনা ফেলা এবং অপরিশোধিত মানব বর্জ্য মারাত্মক দুর্গন্ধ দূষণের কারণ। এভাবে মানুষ পরিবেশ দূষণ ঘটাচ্ছে। তাই পরিবেশ দূষণ রোধে যথাযথ পদক্ষেপ নিতে হবে। আমাদের আরও গাছ লাগাতে হবে এবং বনায়নের জন্য কাজ করতে হবে। নির্বিচারে রাসায়নিক ব্যবহারের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নিতে হবে। পরিবেশ দূষণের ধ্বংসাত্মক প্রভাব সম্পর্কে সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যে সচেতনতা বাড়াতে হবে, গাছ কাটা সীমাবদ্ধ করতে হবে। দূষণ রোধে সব ধরনের দূষণ কমাতে সরকারের পাশাপাশি সচেতন সকলকে এগিয়ে আসতে হবে। সঠিক পদক্ষেপ ও প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ এবং জনসচেতনতা সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে বায়ু দূষণ রোধ করা যেতে পারে।

Nowadays environment pollution is one of the most talked of topics of the world. Our environment is polluted in two ways-air pollution and water pollution. Air is polluted in many ways. Smoke pollutes air, man makes fire to cook his food, to make bricks, melts pitch for road construction and burns wood. All these things produce heavy smoke and this smoke pollutes air.Again all these things cause air pollution. Water is polluted in many ways. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and insecticide in their lands to grow more food. The rain and floods wash away some of the chemicals. They get mixed with canal water and river water. Mills and factories pollute water by throwing the waste materials and unsold products into the rivers and canals. Steamers, launches and even sail boats pollute water by throwing oil, food waste and human waste into the big canals and rivers. Unsanitary latrines in the countryside standing on the banks of the rivers and canals also pollute water. Thus air and water are polluted and as a result our environment gets polluted. Water pollution can be prevented in many ways. First of all we should make the people aware of the fact that water is next to air. It is called life. So chemical fertilizer and pesticide should not be allowed to mix with river water, canal water and pond water. Mills and factories should not throw the waste materials and unsold products into rivers and canals. Steamers, motor launches and even sail boats should not throw oil, food waste and human waste into the rivers and canals. Unsanitary latrines in the countryside should not be built on the banks of the rivers and canals. In fine awareness should be created in the public.

বর্তমানে পরিবেশ দূষণ বিশ্বের অন্যতম আলোচিত বিষয়। আমাদের পরিবেশ দুটি উপায়ে দূষিত - বায়ু দূষণ এবং জল দূষণ। বায়ু নানাভাবে দূষিত হয়। ধোঁয়া বাতাসকে দূষিত করে, মানুষ তার খাবার রান্না করতে আগুন দেয়, ইট তৈরি করে, রাস্তা তৈরির জন্য পিচ গলিয়ে দেয় এবং কাঠ পোড়ায়। এই সমস্ত জিনিসগুলি ভারী ধোঁয়া তৈরি করে এবং এই ধোঁয়া বায়ুকে দূষিত করে। আবার এই সমস্ত জিনিস বায়ু দূষণের কারণ। পানি নানাভাবে দূষিত হয়। কৃষকরা তাদের জমিতে রাসায়নিক সার ও কীটনাশক ব্যবহার করে অধিক খাদ্য উৎপাদনের জন্য। বৃষ্টি ও বন্যা কিছু রাসায়নিক পদার্থকে ধুয়ে দেয়। এগুলো খালের পানি ও নদীর পানিতে মিশে যায়। কল-কারখানার বর্জ্য পদার্থ ও অবিক্রীত পণ্য নদী ও খালে ফেলে পানি দূষিত করে। স্টিমার, লঞ্চ এমনকি পালতোলা নৌকাগুলো বড় বড় খাল ও নদীতে তেল, খাদ্যবর্জ্য ও মানুষের বর্জ্য ফেলে পানি দূষিত করে। নদী ও খালের পাড়ে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা গ্রামাঞ্চলের অস্বাস্থ্যকর ল্যাট্রিনও পানিকে দূষিত করে। এভাবে বায়ু ও পানি দূষিত হয় এবং এর ফলে আমাদের পরিবেশ দূষিত হয়। বিভিন্ন উপায়ে পানি দূষণ রোধ করা যায়। সবার আগে আমাদের উচিত জনগণকে সচেতন করা যে বাতাসের পাশে জল রয়েছে। একে জীবন বলে। তাই নদীর পানি, খালের পানি ও পুকুরের পানিতে রাসায়নিক সার ও কীটনাশক মিশতে দেওয়া উচিত নয়। কল-কারখানার বর্জ্য ও অবিক্রীত পণ্য নদী ও খালে ফেলা উচিত নয়। স্টিমার, মোটর লঞ্চ এমনকি পালতোলা নৌকা যেন তেল, খাবারের বর্জ্য এবং মানুষের বর্জ্য নদী ও খালে না ফেলে। গ্রামাঞ্চলে অস্বাস্থ্যকর ল্যাট্রিন নদী ও খালের ধারে নির্মাণ করা উচিত নয়। সূক্ষ্মভাবে জনগণের মধ্যে সচেতনতা সৃষ্টি করতে হবে।
